Gary Williams
Assistant Project Manager
Gary Williams is a long way from Michigan and the automobile industry.
But he is using what he learned while marketing cars there to sell another product here in California: residential
developments to cities and counties.
Williams was hired in November as a project coordinator for Santa Ana-based J.L. Hare Associates, which serves as a
liaison between governmental agencies and developers.
Williams, 29, now a Santa Ana resident, uses his sales and marketing background to get needed governmental permits
approved. That background assists him in understanding J.L. Hare's clients' needs and how to best present them to
the jurisdictions where developers want to build.
"I have a lot of experience in the past with sales and personal relationships, so that helps me in my dealings with
all the people involved in the permitting process,'' said Williams.
Prior to coming to J.L. Hare, Williams served as assistant account executive for what is now BBDO, the marketing
firm for all of Daimler Chrysler. In that capacity, he assisted in the implementation of direct marketing for the
Dodge Car/Brand group. He holds a bachelor's of business administration from Western Michigan University in
Kalamazoo.
Williams works with developers, architects, landscape architects, and civil, structural and electrical engineers in
submitting building plans to governmental agencies, who then convey requested changes back.
"It helps to streamline their processes,'' he said. "The development team gets it done in a faster more efficient
manner than having the developer do this all themselves. It allows them to not have to be waiting at City Hall for
two or more hours to submit plans."
Williams is serving as project coordinator for Standard Pacific Homes Mille Fleurs single-family home development
in Irvine. Additionally, he is working with William Lyon Homes on the luxury town home Kensington Court project,
also in Irvine.
