Brian Saltikov
Project Manager
Brian A. Saltikov knows how to communicate: He's taught college writing at colleges for two years.
Now he's putting that experience to work at Santa Ana-based J.L. Hare Associates, which serves as a liaison between
governmental agencies and developers' design teams.
His writing experience assists him in conveying clients' needs to city and county planning and building
departments.
"Being able to communicate effectively has definitely helped me already,'' said Saltikov, who was hired in November
as a project coordinator.
Mainly, Saltikov works in Tustin and Irvine to help clients get building and grading permits. He conveys the ideas
of the developers' engineers, architects, and landscape, civil and structural engineers to the jurisdictions, which
in turn offer input and changes.
The Capistrano Beach resident feels confident that any document he writes will be easily understood, an important
consideration given the sometimes confusing nature of the permitting process. His writing background also helps him
comprehend the legal jargon that pervades the process, he said.
Saltikov earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's in teaching writing, both from Humboldt State
University in Arcata. He has taught writing at Humboldt and at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka.
But his background isn't solely academic. For more than a decade, the El Toro High School graduate was a
hanger/taper in the drywall industry. He bid projects, managed jobs, worked with clients and trained new workers.
"I've seen it done from beginning to end many times so I have an understanding of the whole building process," said
Saltikov, 35.
Saltikov is now working on several projects. They include a parcel of Portola Springs, an Irvine Company-owned
master planned community in Irvine being developed by Pardee Homes; a detached condominium development by Pulte
Homes, also in Irvine; and two single-family and two multi-family residential projects by William Lyon Homes at
site of the former Tustin Marine Base.
